The heel was cut to shape. A big decision was the type of joint to use to attach the neck to the body. The originals had a dovetail but I decided on a joint developed by William Cumpiano, which seemed to offer many advantages.

The fingerboard is glued on after getting it absolutely flat and trimmed to shape. The Cumpiano neck joint is clear here. The tenon is bolted to the body with barrel bolts in the holes

The fret positions were marked and sawn, then finished with a needle file before hammering in the fretwire.

The neck was carved to shape. The originals had wide necks but I decided to reproduce the profile of my old guitar. This is more comfortable and familiar for me, and one of the advantages of making your own guitar.

Here it is, just about ready to fit to the body.
