Pete, Hughie, James, Gwyn, John T, Jeremy & John W. on the Cardiff streets before the Wales - France Grand Slam.

How did it start?

It all started just before the Rugby World Cup 1999, when Phil suggested singing some Max Boyce songs in Cardiff for charity.

John Watkin came up with the name "Boycezone" and James and Pete came up with the good looks and talent.

It ended up with four of us standing outside Cardiff Castle, giving each other the encouragement and support to do something we couldn't do alone - dress up like our hero, Max and sing his songs on the street.

We raised £12 from the first outing (Wales v Japan) building up to £350 for the Australia v France final.

In total we collected over £1000 for Vision Foundation (based in Ebbw Vale) from playing on the street and from TV and radio fees during the World Cup matches.

In 2000 we took part in BBC TV's Children in Need.

So it's all been down hill since then.

If you've seen us play before or after a match and helped out - THANKS! We owe it all to your generosity.
